Dive Brief:
- The Fresh Market has named Alyssa Vescio to the newly created role of chief commercial officer, the specialty grocer confirmed to Grocery Dive.
- The Fresh Market also named Marcio Ribeiro as chief digital officer, which is also a new role.
- The Fresh Market said one of its main goals is to better align and integrate with its parent company, Cencosud, a retailer with operations across North and South America.
Dive Insight:
The Fresh Market has brought three key capabilities — marketing, merchandising and commercial planning — under the leadership of the new chief commercial officer role that Vescio, who was previously the chain’s chief merchandising officer, has taken on.
“Together, the three teams shape what The Fresh Market offers, how it brings those offerings to market and how it tells its story,” a company spokesperson wrote in emailed comments. “Having them work side by side helps the company create the best experience for its guests and deliver on its mission to inspire them to make everyday eating extraordinary.”
Ribeiro will oversee direct e-commerce, loyalty, the digital experience and information technology.
The Fresh Market has not named new leaders to Vescio’s and Ribeiro’s former roles.
The Fresh Market has undergone a number of changes in the past two years. In February 2025, Brian Johnson became president and CEO, and The Fresh Market was acquired by Cencosud that August. This year, the grocer revamped its loyalty program and launched its first native app.
