- Allegiance Retail Services announced Monday the promotion of Samer Rahman to president and chief operating officer, effective immediately.
- Rahman previously served as Allegiance’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.
- With Rahman’s promotion, Allegiance is tapping a company veteran with over a dozen years of experience at the retailer-owned marketing and merchandising co-op.

Rahman is now charged with overseeing day-to-day business operations, integrated supply chain logistics, store services and merchandising strategies. He will also work to accelerate store growth, boost member profitability and expand Allegiance’s independent banners, including Foodtown, Pathmark, Gristedes and D’Agostino, according to the press release.
He has been with the company since 2013, holding numerous titles, including director of meat and seafood, vice president of perishables and vice president of center store. Allegiance noted that Rahman’s career spans more than 35 years and includes “impactful tenures” at Pathmark, A&P and Food Bazaar.
“Over the last decade at Allegiance, Samer has consistently lowered costs for our members, elevated our merchandising programs, and built deep trust with our vendor community. We are thrilled to elevate him to President and COO, where his visionary leadership will continue to empower our independent owners and steer our co-op toward a prosperous future,” Allegiance Chairman and CEO Jason Ferreira said in a statement.
Allegiance supports an array of independent supermarkets across the Northeast through marketing, advertising, technological and merchandising support.
