Whole Foods Market plans to open two more Daily Shop locations before the end of this year. One location is in Brooklyn, New York, and the other is in Hoboken, New Jersey, marking the first of the specialty grocer’s small-format stores to open in the Garden State, according to a Wednesday announcement.
The Brooklyn store, located at 774 Grand St., will open on Dec. 11 and span more than 7,800 square feet. The Hoboken location at 101 Washington St., which measures over 4,800 square feet, will debut on Dec. 18. Whole Foods first announced plans for these locations in September.
Both soon-to-open Daily Shops will offer more than 350 local products, prepared food options including sandwiches and pre-packed meals, bakery items, artisanal cheeses, seasonal produce, meat and seafood, according to the announcement.
Since opening the inaugural store in Manhattan’s Lenox Hill neighborhood last September, Whole Foods has opened three more Daily Shop locations: two more in New York City’s Manhattan borough and one in Arlington, Virginia. Whole Foods’ incoming Brooklyn Daily shop will be the first in the city located outside of Manhattan.
According to Whole Foods data, 42% of the shoppers at the Lenox Hill store between September 2024 and May 2025 were either new or re-engaged customers that hadn’t shopped at any other Whole Foods locations in the New York City metro area during that period the year prior. This finding indicates that the “concept is successful at driving new business to the retailer,” the grocer noted.
The growth of the Daily Shop format continues against the backdrop of Amazon further integrating with Whole Foods. Amazon in June named a restructured leadership team for its Worldwide Grocery division that includes top Whole Foods executives. In August, Amazon said it aims to bring corporate Whole Foods employees under the same benefits program and compensation structure as Amazon corporate workers by December 2026.
