Dive Brief:
- Pringles announced that it will release limited edition Pecan Pie and Cinnamon and Sugar flavors nationwide in early November for the 2013 holiday season. [Editor's note: They have already been spotted in the wild.]
- Pringles conducted a survey, which showed that 48% of respondents thought bringing pecan pie to a holiday party would make them look like heroes, so the Kellogg-owned brand is pushing these chips as an option for consumers to pick up for seasonal gatherings.
- The launch follows last year's holiday Pringles releases, which included Pumpkin Pie Spice, White Chocolate Peppermint and Cinnamon Sugar.

Dive Insight:
This announcement may come as a disappointment to consumers who hoped to see white chocolate and peppermint back together on their snack shelves this year, but Pringles' survey results seem to indicate that they made the right choice. Pecan pie beat out fruit cake, which only appealed to 6% of respondents, according to a press release. That's a chip that we might have trouble wrapping our heads around.
