- Giunta’s Meat Farms is acquiring King Kullen, joining the forces of two supermarket chains on Long Island in New York, according to a Thursday announcement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
- Under the deal, which is expected to close in September and is subject to customary closing conditions, Giunta’s Meat Farms will buy King Kullen’s 24 name banner stores as well as its four Wild by Nature natural foods markets.
- Until the transaction closes, the companies will continue to operate independently and “conduct business as usual,” the announcement noted.

In announcing the deal, the two family-owned Long Island supermarkets noted their shared values and long history in local communities will help them thrive when they join forces.
“For nearly a century, King Kullen has been part of the fabric of Long Island thanks to the loyalty of our customers and the dedication of our associates,” King Kullen Chairman James A. Cullen said in a statement. “We believe Giunta’s Meat Farms is guided by the same principles that have defined our company since my grandfather founded King Kullen in 1930.”
Once the deal is completed, the companies said they expect to continue employing all King Kullen and Wild by Nature associates.
Headquartered in Oakdale, New York, Giunta’s Meat Farms started its supermarket business in 1952 and now operates 10 locations on Long Island.
