Dive Brief:
- Kellogg has signed a deal with yogurt maker Danone to place some of its brand-name cereals in Danone's YoCrunch.
- YoCrunch is sold in a double-cup format. The bottom cup is yogurt, while the top cup has traditionally been filled with cookies, candies, and other foods suitable for mixing.
- The deal comes just nine months after Danone acquired YoCrunch.
Dive Insight:
There's something about this deal that just screams "what took so long?" YoCrunch is obviously open to partnerships -- it already has them with Mondelez, Mars, Hershey's, and Nestle for cookie and candy blends of its yogurt. And many consumers already blend yogurt with breakfast cereals.
There might be more of these products in the dairy aisle soon, if rival General Mills sees the potential in combining its Yoplait yogurt brand with some of its more popular cereals.
