Several major grocers are emphasizing savings with their Easter meal deals this year.
Amazon’s grocery deals feature Easter basket goodies starting at $3 and exclusive deals for Whole Foods Market Prime members, such as up to 30% off bone-in spiral cut hams and up to 20% off eggs until April 7. Amazon is also serving up under-$10 dinner and brunch items, including select pies, prepared sides, quiches, pastries, rib-eye roast at $6.99 per pound and spiral-sliced ham starting at $1.99 per pound, until April 5.
Other retailers are also zeroing in on price for Easter essentials. Kroger announced Tuesday a sprawling list of deals, including ham for as little as 85 cents per pound, asparagus for $1.99 per pound and King's Hawaiian Rolls for $3.99. The grocer also took the opportunity to highlight its private brands, such as four-layer carrot cake and triple cherry pie, both under its Private Selection line.
Sam’s Club is offering an Easter meal deal that serves around 15 guests for $9 per person and can be delivered the night before. The Walmart-owned club retailer emphasized quality, noting that its Member’s Mark Community — a group of its shoppers who test and give feedback on products — influenced its Easter assortment this year. The meal includes a cherry pistachio crunch salad, fully cooked spiral-sliced ham, a boneless leg of Australian lamb and Member’s Mark coconut cake, as well as sides such as green beans, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese.
It’s not just the major players serving up Easter deals. Heinen’s, a regional chain with stores in Ohio and Illinois, features “Easter Basket Essentials” and a collection of recipes — with options including desserts, a quiche brunch board and spring vegetable fettuccine Alfredo — for Easter “inspiration” on its website.
These deals come as consumer spending on Easter is expected to reach a record $24.9 billion this year, according to a study released by the NRF and Prosper Insights & Analytics.
