Dive Brief:
- Food Lion has revamped 169 stores in North and South Carolina and is hosting grand reopening events to promote the new look.
- Among the changes are the "Fresh from the Field" initiative, which offers an expanded line of fresh produce and a double-your-money-back guarantee.
- The retailer has also lowered prices on some 6,000 items in the stores.
Dive Insight:
The reopening of the Carolina stores means that nearly every store in the Food Lion chain has now received a face lift as part of a companywide investment. The results are lower prices and a wider selection of produce for consumers. Certainly we applaud such developments. But no doubt Wall Street is a little concerned that the price investments are hurting revenue.
