Florida grocery chain Fresco Supermarkets is toasting to its latest boozy addition.
The supermarket company, which caters to Hispanic and Caribbean communities, announced Wednesday the opening of its seventh Fresco Liquor in-store concept.
The chain launched the store-within-a-store format in 2023.
While several grocers have opened standalone liquor stores — even opening ones in neighboring retail spaces — Fresco Supermarkets said having Fresco Liquor within its existing supermarkets helps it better retain customers by allowing them to buy groceries and alcohol in the same place.
The newest Fresco Liquor opened in Hialeah, Florida. The format includes a selection of tequila, rum, whiskey, wine and other spirits at competitive prices, and will host tastings, according to the announcement.
“For the past decade, we’ve focused on understanding what our customers want and finding ways to make their shopping experience even better,” Sergio Benitez, director of operations for Fresco Supermarkets, said in the announcement. “The opening of our seventh Fresco Liquor store is an extension of that commitment, giving our Hialeah customers more selection, convenience and great prices, all in one place.”
The grocer’s website lists other Fresco Liquors in Hialeah, Miami and Tampa.
Founded in 2016, Fresco Supermarkets operates 26 grocery stores throughout South and Central Florida.
