Lowe Rental, a global leader in commercial refrigeration and catering equipment solutions, has announced a new distribution partnership with Italian commercial refrigeration manufacturer Pastorfrigor S.p.A. The agreement will see Lowe Rental offer Pastorfrigor’s fully certified (UL, NSF, DOE) refrigeration cases to the U.S. grocery and retail market, expanding sustainable refrigeration options for American retailers.
Pastorfrigor is internationally recognized for its innovative case designs, natural refrigerant technology (R290 and CO₂), and focus on energy efficiency. Under the new partnership, Lowe will distribute a range of remote and plug-in refrigeration units, including:
- Remote CO₂ cases rated for high-pressure applications (up to 80 bar)
- Modular R290 multidecks and reach-ins, including the Genova, Europe’s most energy-efficient door case
- A complete line of specialty and service cases, available in both CO₂ and R290 configurations
All equipment will be offered through Lowe’s Refrigeration as a Service (RaaS) model, giving retailers access to high-performance refrigeration without the capital expenditure. RaaS enables retailers to pay only for the duration equipment is needed, with maintenance, servicing, and installation included, allowing for faster innovation, reduced risk, and greater cost control.
“We’re proud to partner with Pastorfrigor to bring more sustainable, high-performance refrigeration options to the U.S. market,” said Kyle Payne, Head of Retail Sales at Lowe Rental. “This collaboration expands access to best-in-class equipment and helps grocers adopt natural refrigerants in a way that’s flexible, scalable, and aligned with real operational needs.”
The collaboration supports retailers in making strategic upgrades such as:
- Replacing high-leak HFC systems with low-GWP natural refrigerants
- Rapidly launching micro-fulfillment centers with minimal disruption
- Phasing out end-of-life assets and planning around lease exits
- Locking in capital and operational cost certainty
“Pastorfrigor has always been committed to advancing sustainable refrigeration design,” added Clara Pastorello, CEO of Pastorfrigor. “Through this partnership with Lowe, we can now deliver our most efficient and environmentally friendly equipment to a wider U.S. audience through a model that’s truly aligned with how today’s retailers want to operate.”
This partnership supports Lowe Rental’s broader mission to help the U.S. grocery sector transition away from HFCs and adopt practical, regulation-ready alternatives. With the U.S. regulatory landscape evolving rapidly, this collaboration offers retailers a timely path to both compliance and climate impact reduction.
