Trader Joe’s announced on Tuesday that it plans to open seven new stores, with the locations spread out across the country.
On the East Coast, Trader Joe’s intends to add locations in Columbia, South Carolina; Melbourne, Florida; Hamden, Connecticut; and Williamsville, New York. On the West Coast, Trader Joe’s is looking to open stores in Costa Mesa, California, and Lacey, Washington. The grocer also has a new Texas location slated for Kingwood.
Trader Joe’s did not provide expected opening dates for the locations.
All of the new stores will be in states where Trader Joe’s has already set up shop, although the Columbia location will help fill out its sparse presence in South Carolina, where the grocer only operates four stores.
Including the seven announced this week, Trader Joe’s has unveiled plans for 30 yet-to-open locations since the start of 2025.
So far this year, Trader Joe’s has announced 12 store openings, four of which took place in California. Trader Joe’s is currently on pace with last year’s store fleet growth. By comparison, the chain opened 11 stores during the first nine months of 2024 — a third of its total net-new store tally for the year.
