Family-owned Ridley’s Family Markets, which operates stores across the Intermountain West, is acquiring fellow regional grocer Terrels Markets, according to a Friday press release.
The deal, expected to be completed during or near the first week of April, includes Terrels’ entire six-store footprint. Ridley’s said it will transition each of these locations to either its Ridley’s Family Markets or Macey’s banners.
Anita Ridley, chairperson of Ridley’s, said in a statement that the company plans to “welcome Terrels team members into the Ridley’s Family Markets family.” The announcement noted additional details regarding store branding, operations and timelines will be shared with employees and customers closer to the deal’s close.
Founded in 1984, Ridley’s consists of nearly 40 stores across its home state of Utah as well as Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Wyoming. The grocer added that acquiring Terrels is “particularly meaningful” as the chain is a fellow Utah-based grocer with a location in Ridley’s founding town of Payson, Utah.
