The Raley’s Companies confirmed with Grocery Dive plans to close two of its California locations.
The first is a O-N-E Raley’s storefront in Roseville, California, which will shutter on Tuesday, impacting around 45 employees, a spokesperson for the company confirmed. The store opened in June 2022 and marked Raley’s fourth store under the organic and natural-focused O-N-E banner.
CBS News reported that “performance and economic factors” led to the company’s decision to close the Roseville store.
Despite these closures, Raley’s will still maintain its foothold in Roseville, a neighborhood that is currently home to five other Raley’s locations: two under its flagship banner, two under its Bel Air chain and another O-N-E Raley’s store.
The grocer is also closing its Nob Hill Foods location in Mountain View, California, in late May, a move that will affect roughly 50 workers, the spokesperson confirmed. Raley’s acquired the Nob Hill Foods chain in 1998, which at the time consisted of around 20 locations across California’s East Bay, South Bay and Central Coast regions.
Local news outlet Mountain View Voice reported that Raley’s decision to close the Nob Hill store, like the O-N-E Raley’s Roseville store, stemmed from the location’s performance and economic factors, as well as the store’s lease being up for renewal.
This Nob Hill store was Raley’s only storefront in Mountain View.
