The Raley’s Companies confirmed with Grocery Dive plans to close two of its California locations.
The first is a Raley’s storefront at 1915 Douglas Blvd. in Roseville, California, which will shutter on Tuesday, impacting around 45 employees, a spokesperson for the company confirmed.
Raley’s will still maintain its foothold in Roseville, a neighborhood that is currently home to five Raley’s locations: two under its flagship banner, two under its Bel Air chain and a Raley’s O-N-E Market.
The grocer is also closing its Nob Hill Foods location in Mountain View, California, in late May, a move that will affect roughly 50 workers, the spokesperson confirmed. Raley’s acquired the Nob Hill Foods chain in 1998, which at the time consisted of around 20 locations across California’s East Bay, South Bay and Central Coast regions.
This Nob Hill store was Raley’s only storefront in Mountain View.
Each location’s lease was up for renewal, and after evaluating store performance and economic factors, Raley’s ultimately decided not to renew either lease, Raley’s spokesperson Carol Barsotti said in emailed comments.
Barsotti added that the company will support team members through the transition and will work to place “as many as possible” at nearby Raley’s locations.
Correction: A previous version of this story misstated the Raley's store format that is closing in Roseville. The location that is shuttering is a Raley's store at 1915 Douglas Blvd.
