PCC Community Markets plans to open its 17th location on Oct. 14, the West Coast grocery cooperative announced in a press release on Wednesday.
The new store, in Seattle’s Madison Valley neighborhood, will carry locally grown organic produce, seasonal products sourced from the Pacific Northwest, and ethically raised seafood and meat. The location will also offer bulk goods, fresh sushi made on-site and an assortment of private label goods.
In addition, the new location will feature a deli with freshly prepared meals, soups, salads, artisanal sandwiches and grab-and-go choices, PCC said. The grocer’s refreshed pizza program will also be available at the new location, offering customers pizza made with flour supplied by local provider Cairnspring Mills.
The store, which will employ about 75 people, will sport new decor that reflects the co-op’s quality standards, according to the press release.
PCC announced in April that it intended to open a store in Madison Valley this fall, noting at the time that the new location was nearly a decade in the making.
“We signed this lease ten years ago, and it’s been a long road to get here as the project worked through the local process, with input from the neighborhood along the way. That makes it especially meaningful to finally open our doors and put down roots here,” PCC CFO Amy Chow said in a statement on April 7, when she was also serving as acting CEO while President and CEO Krish Srinivasan was on leave for personal reasons.
PCC is expanding its fleet after significantly improving its performance in recent years. The co-op had income from operations of nearly $1 million in 2025 compared with an operating loss of almost $250,000 in 2022.
The co-op announced in August that Srinivasan, who presided over the grocer as it turned around its financial results, will retire in January.
PCC’s latest store is set to open just over a year after PCC debuted a store in downtown Seattle that is the co-op’s first small-format location. That store, which opened in July 2025, occupies a site that formerly housed a much larger PCC location that closed at the start of 2024 after operating for only about two years.
