Lowes Foods plans to open two new stores in the Raleigh, North Carolina, metropolitan area, the supermarket operator announced Friday.
Lowes did not indicate when the stores, to be located in Wendell and Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, will debut.
The Alex Lee-owned retailer also said it plans to convert a Kj’s Market store on John’s Island, South Carolina, into a Lowes Foods location as it moves ahead with plans to bring grocery banners that belong to Alex Lee under the Lowes umbrella.
“Kj’s Market is an important part of our portfolio, and we’re confident Lowes Foods will offer an experience more tailored to this area’s unique demographic,” Lowes Foods President Tim Lowe said in a statement.
Alex Lee said last July that it intended to close a Kj’s Market location in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, as well as two Lowes Foods stores in North Carolina by the end of the following month as part of a “broader growth strategy.”
Lowes, which runs about 80 locations and focuses on in-store entertainment, also said Friday that it expects in late June to reopen a store in Holly Springs, North Carolina, that has been undergoing renovations. The chain also recently held grand re-openings for a pair of stores in Raleigh.
Improvements to all three stores include refreshed interiors as well as larger cheese shops and smokehouses.
