Dive Insight:
Since opening its first main banner store in the Dallas-Fort Worth region in 2022, the grocer has opened several locations in the area. At the start of 2025, H-E-B announced it purchased 10 acres in Dallas, noting that the land was earmarked for its first H-E-B format store in the city. In October, the grocer opened its 10th store under its namesake banner in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. H-E-B also operates several Central Market and Joe V’s Smart Shop locations throughout North Texas.
According to an October announcement, H-E-B has more locations planned for the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including five more namesake stores and another Joe V’s Smart Shop.
The newly purchased land is situated along Interstate 35 and E. Lone Oak Road. H-E-B said it does not have a construction timeline for the project yet, but noted that the planned facilities will help it better serve customers across North and West Texas.
“Buying this property marks the first step in developing a master-planned campus that will strengthen our ability to serve more Texans,” H-E-B Chief Supply Chain Officer Carson Landsgard said in the announcement. “This project reinforces our commitment to communities across the state and will generate more local job opportunities in the years ahead.”
H-E-B also noted in the Friday announcement that it recently bought for an undisclosed amount 122 acres next to its current distribution campus in Temple, Texas. It doesn’t have a construction timeline for that land.
H-E-B operates over 455 stores in Texas and Mexico.
