- Giant Food launched a new workplace wellness program to help support the wellness goals of local businesses and organizations, according to a Thursday press release.
- Hosted by Giant’s Healthy Living Team consisting of registered dietitians and nutritionists, the Workplace Wellness Program will provide businesses with customizable, full-service wellness programs.
- As grocers continue to ramp up their wellness offerings, Giant Food’s new program highlights how companies can look beyond their core customer base to grow.
Giant Food’s new wellness program offers educational options like webinars, lunch and learn sessions and store tours; wellness activities such as cooking demonstrations, meal planning workshops and mindfulness experiences; and wellness challenges for physical fitness, mindfulness and work-life balance, according to the announcement.
The company noted that all of these program offerings can be customized and presented individually or packaged to fit team needs. The personalization of the program also extends to teams that are working in-office, online or taking a hybrid approach.
The grocery company’s goal with the program is to increase productivity and job satisfaction, provide stress relief, forge deeper bonds across teams and allow businesses to invest in their workers’ wellbeing, according to Giant Food’s website.
Popular topics offered include “7 Tips to a Healthier You,” “Eating Healthy on a Budget,” “Mood-Boosting Foods,” “Plant-Based Eating” and “Immune-Boosting Foods,” according to the program playbook.
The playbook includes sample itineraries of activities part of the program packages. A package could include one 30-minute lunch and learn, a healthy living activity and one virtual cook-along activity and/or demonstration.
“[O]ur programming addresses all aspects of healthy living — not just nutrition,” Lisa Coleman, Giant’s director of healthy living, said in a statement.
