- Giant Eagle implemented the Manhattan Active Warehouse Management system at its over 1 million-square-foot supply chain facility in Bedford Heights, Ohio, according to a June 17 press release.
- The Bedford Heights warehouse is the fifth site within the grocery retailer’s network to undergo the migration to the Manhattan Active WM platform. Giant Eagle plans to transition two remaining distribution centers by September, per the release.
- The grocery retailer is rolling out the cloud native system from Manhattan Associates across its network to unify and optimize its warehouse and transportation operations, the release said.

Giant Eagle used an on-premises warehouse management system from Manhattan Associates before completing the transition to the Active WM at three of its distribution centers in 2024.
Following the latest transition, the grocery retailer returned to full production within days of installing the updated system, processing hundreds of thousands of inbound and outbound orders, per the release.
The implementation comes in parallel to Giant Eagle’s ongoing adoption of Manhattan Active Transportation Management, a logistics and shipping planning solution from the technology provider. The platform coordinates with the Active WM to unify distribution and transportation workflows.
Several other retailers, such as Staples, have also tapped the Manhattan Associates Active WM to improve distribution performance and efficiency.
Other retailers like Hy-Vee and Academy Sports and Outdoors have also implemented warehouse management platforms from Manhattan Associates.
