Gelson’s Market is once again expanding its reach through e-commerce.
The specialty grocer announced Monday the launch of curated artisanal cheese boxes available for nationwide delivery, according to an emailed press release. The offering marks Gelson’s first direct-to-consumer expansion beyond its home region of Southern California, a spokesperson for the grocer said.
The launch offers three cheese box collection options: California Dreaming, which includes a selection of Californian cheeses; American Artisan, which features a variety of cheeses from across the U.S.; and Epicurean, which offers an array of global cheeses and pairings. Lisa Ali, a cheese and specialty foods specialist for Gelson’s who is a certified cheese professional and an International Dairy Deli Bakery Association salumiere professional, oversees the creation of these boxes, the press release noted.
The boxes cost between $99 and $119 with free FedEx overnight shipping, the announcement noted.
“We can now reach customers well beyond our stores while staying true to what defines us including expert selection, premium ingredients, and thoughtful presentation all delivered right to doorsteps across the country,” Rich Gilmore, Gelson’s vice president of center store, said in a statement.
Earlier this fall, Gelson’s ramped up its e-commerce offerings on a local level. A handful of the specialty grocer’s Los Angeles stores started offering food waste solution company Flashfood’s $9 produce boxes, which contain seasonal fruits and vegetables nearing their best-by date.
