Dive Insight:
Amazon is adding to its growing list of regional grocer partnerships, which already includes Bristol Farms, Cardenas Markets, Weis Markets, Metropolitan Market and FoodMaxx. The Winn-Dixie tie-up marks Amazon’s first local grocer partnership in the Jacksonville and Orlando markets, according to the press release.
Consumers can shop from either Amazon.com or Amazon’s shopping app and access more than 16,000 items across multiple categories, per the announcement.
To kick off the new offering, Amazon is allowing customers free two-hour delivery on all Winn-Dixie orders over $25, regardless of whether they are Prime members. The announcement added that Winn-Dixie members can link their rewards account with their Amazon account to earn one point for every $2 spent on Winn-Dixie orders via Amazon.
Last month, Amazon announced that it added perishable groceries to its same-day delivery service in more than 1,000 cities and towns across the U.S. The company plans to make the offering available in over 2,300 municipalities by the year’s close.
Internally, Amazon’s grocery executive makeup is also changing. Since announcing in January that Jason Buechel would helm the company’s entire grocery business, Amazon has restructured its Worldwide Grocery leadership team and further integrated Whole Foods Market under its corporate umbrella.
