Dive Insight:
Vallarta’s new in-store experience is the latest example of a multicultural grocery chain striking while the iron is hot. Industry experts foresee international grocers undergoing significant growth in 2026 as consumer demand grows for a wider, more authentic assortment of global flavors.
Vallarta’s incoming new store, the second to open so far this year, will be the first to include the grocer’s new Costa de Oro department. The seafood restaurant will offer fresh, made-to-order seafood dishes such as seafood tostadas and shrimp tacos, according to the announcement.
The grocer will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the store and in-house restaurant, located at 9040 Foothill Blvd., Rancho Cucamonga, California, on April 1.
The Costa de Oro department adds to Vallarta’s already robust assortment of made-fresh daily meals.
Vallarta’s Panadería makes warm corn and flour tortillas, cakes and pan dulce while fresh ceviches are prepared in small batches throughout the day, per the press release. Additional grab-and-go options come from the grocer’s La Cocina, which prepares meals inspired by Mexico and Central America. Vallarta’s Juice Bar offers aguas frescas from traditional vitroleros, and the grocer also has a made-to-order guacamole order station. For shoppers looking for foods beyond Latin America, Vallarta offers hand-rolled sushi.
Vallarta’s Carnicería offers premium cuts of marinated meat as well as an assortment of traditional cheeses, and its Cevichería provides shoppers with seafood, aguachiles and more.
All of these departments will be included in the upcoming Rancho Cucamonga store.
Vallarta’s new store concept is the latest milestone for the Latino-owned grocer. In January, the grocer opened its first store outside of its home state of California, in Glendale, Arizona.
Vallarta operates 64 locations across California and Arizona.
