Dive Insight:
Over 20,000 Sprouts products will be available for delivery through DoorDash and orders can be placed on either the delivery company’s mobile app or its website, the announcement states. Customers can opt to have orders delivered the same day or later in the week.
Also part of the partnership, delivery from all Sprouts stores will be available through DoorDash’s membership program, DashPass, which gives members free delivery and reduced service fees on eligible orders.
Shoppers will receive 30% off their first Sprouts order placed on DoorDash valued at $50 or more from Nov. 3 to Nov. 24, up to a maximum savings of $30, the announcement notes.
Though demand for grocery delivery has dipped compared the last year, according to a recent Brick Meets Click survey, this grocery shopping method continues to play a key role in driving the industry. In this year’s third quarter, delivery services “helped fuel a 20% lift in sales for the quarter versus the prior year,” the survey stated.
On Tuesday, SpartanNash and its delivery partner, Shipt, announced expanding their same-day delivery platform to nearly 90 SpartanNash-owned grocery stores across Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota and Ohio. Orders made through the delivery service company will be delivered in as little as an hour, the press release notes.
In addition, Save Mart said last week it has partnered with Amazon to launch two-hour grocery delivery throughout California’s Central Valley. The announcement came three days after Schnuck Markets said it has started offering 30-minute delivery on convenience items through an Instacart partnership.
