Dive Brief:
- Shipt has partnered with Wakefern Food Corp. to offer same-day grocery delivery, the Target-owned e-commerce operator announced Friday.
- Shipt now provides delivery from more than 350 stores under Wakefern’s eight supermarket banners, which include ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, Morton Williams and The Fresh Grocer.
- The tie-up with the New Jersey-based, retailer-owned supermarket cooperative builds on recent efforts by Shipt to grow its roster of grocery partners.
Dive Insight:
With the tie-up, Shipt is expanding its grocery delivery options in the Northeast, the company noted.
“We’re excited to welcome these highly requested and beloved grocery banners to Shipt and help more of our Northeast customers access the grocery brands they know and trust, backed by the personalized shopping experience that sets Shipt apart,” Shipt Chief Growth and Strategy Officer Katie Stratton said in a statement.
For the partnership’s launch, Shipt is offering half off orders of $50 or more — up to $40 in savings — until Nov. 14.
Earlier this month, Shipt announced a partnership with Sprouts Farmers Market to offer same-day delivery from the chain’s more than 500 stores. For that launch, the e-commerce provider said it would offer new members its monthly membership for 99 cents per month for the first four months.
Wakefern also has several e-commerce partnerships, including ones with Instacart and DoorDash. In September, Wakefern teamed up with Uber Eats to expand on-demand delivery.
