Dive Brief:
- Albertsons Media Collective confirmed that it has named former Walmart executive Steve Shee as vice president of operations and strategy.
- Shee is responsible for shaping Albertsons’ retail media business and accelerating sustainable business growth, the company wrote in emailed remarks to Grocery Dive.
- Shee’s appointment came around the same time as the departure of Albertsons Media Collective’s head, Brian Monahan.
Dive Insight:
Shee most recently served as Walmart Connect’s head of advertising and revenue operations, helping scale the company’s advertising business, according to Albertsons. His 20-plus-year career has also been defined by building high-performing teams, transforming operating models and leveraging technology to help companies scale, the grocer added.
As vice president of operations and strategy for Albertsons Media Collective, Shee will head up development of the organization’s annual operating plan and execution of the company’s three-year strategic plan, which it launched at the start of last year in an effort to cut $1.5 billion in costs. Shee will also advance revenue operations that aim to strengthen business performance and deliver long-term value for advertisers, customers and partners, Albertsons noted.
Shee announced he was joining Albertsons on LinkedIn on Oct. 5 — the same day the company confirmed Monahan left Albertsons Media Collective after serving as its senior vice president for just over a year. Chief Marketing Officer Emily Turner has taken the helm from Monahan as the company continues consolidating its internal departments.
