Shawn Sloan has been named The Winn-Dixie Company’s new chief of store operations, the retailer confirmed to Grocery Dive on Monday.
Sloan has been with the Florida grocer for more than 40 years, starting as a bagger and most recently serving as vice president of fresh merchandising. He also spent a dozen years as regional vice president for Winn-Dixie, leading operations across Florida, a spokesperson wrote in an email.
Adam Kirk was Winn-Dixie’s previous chief of store operations, per the grocer’s website. Kirk earlier worked as Southeastern Grocers’ chief customer and digital officer.
This C-suite change comes after a busy few years for Winn-Dixie.
In August, C&S Wholesale Grocers proposed a transaction to become the majority owner of The Winn-Dixie Company. Raymond Rhee, Winn-Dixie’s former CFO, became The Winn-Dixie Company’s CEO — a role he’ll hold until the transaction closes, which is expected to happen sometime next year. Former CEO Anthony Hucker transitioned to the role of special advisor to the company.
The proposed deal came over a year after C&S, along with a consortium of private investors led by Hucker, acquired Southeastern Grocers from Aldi. The group rebranded Southeastern Grocers as The Winn-Dixie Company in January.
