Dive Insight:
Uncle Giuseppe’s indicated in the announcement that it had been looking further afield for growth for some time.
“Pennsylvania has been part of our growth plans for a while, and King of Prussia is a great place for us to start,” Uncle Giuseppe’s CEO and co-founder Carl DelPrete said in a statement. “It’s a strong market, and it gives us an opportunity to introduce Uncle Giuseppe’s to a lot of new customers. The focus will be the same as it is in every one of our stores: freshness, quality, consistency and taking care of the customer.”
DelPrete added Uncle Giuseppe’s existing brand recognition in New Jersey will set it up for success in a new part of the state.
“Moorestown gives us a chance to reach customers in South Jersey and continue growing in a market where people already know Uncle Giuseppe’s,” he said in the announcement.
Uncle Giuseppe’s plans to bring its distinctive approach to grocery shopping to both new stores. The locations will each offer house-made mozzarella and pasta and a wide selection of prepared foods in addition to featuring an Italian deli. Both locations will also carry a comprehensive assortment of traditional grocery products along with fresh produce, specialty cheeses and imported Italian items.
Uncle Giuseppe’s move into a new region comes as it presses ahead with efforts to expand around New York City. The Long Island-based grocer began operations in 2001 and until now has mostly focused on growing on Long Island and in northern New Jersey.
The chain opened a location in Greenvale, New York, earlier this month and intends to debut a store in Levittown, New York, in the fourth quarter of 2026. The chain will operate 14 stores once the Levittown location opens.
