Dollar General announced several high-level executive moves on Thursday, including the appointment of new senior leaders for its information technology, artificial intelligence, store operations and real estate teams.
As part of the executive realignment, Travis Nixon, who joined Dollar General last November as senior vice president of artificial intelligence optimization, shifted to the role of SVP and chief data and artificial intelligence officer. In his new role, Nixon will oversee the discount retailer’s AI strategies and delivery operations, including data engineering and enablement. He will also continue to lead the company’s business process management initiatives, which involves using AI to improve efficiency in areas including merchandising, supply chain and store operations.
Dollar General also said Tom Hutchins moved to the role of SVP and chief technology officer. In his new position, Hutchins will expand his responsibility “across key technology areas to further strengthen enterprise alignment, performance and delivery,” the announcement noted.
In addition, Dollar General said Zak Brining transitioned to the role of SVP of real estate. Brining, who joined the retailer in 2016, served previously as SVP of corporate store operations. In turn, Nick Snow has taken over as SVP of corporate operations, giving him responsibility over areas including asset protection and store facilities management.
The company also said Thursday that it promoted Josh Allison to division vice president of store operations, giving him oversight of over 2,400 Dollar General locations across the upper Midwest and northern Plains. The company also boosted Vai Anand to vice president of decision science and analytics, Michael Czubic to vice president of store operations, and Kevin Schoo to vice president of process improvement.
In addition, the discounter promoted Chelsea Beachy to vice president of field human resources. She will work with employees in Dollar General’s upscale Popshelf division, which is aimed at higher-income shoppers, and the company’s Mi Súper Dollar General, which serves shoppers in Mexico.
