CEO Mike Demko will join seven other finalists at the Gaylord Rockies Convention Center June 19th-21st, as they compete for the chance to win $10,000 at the conference’s first Startup Lab Pitch Competition.
GS1 Connect 2019 is set to bring together over 1200 attendees from a variety of fields within the food service, grocery, retail and healthcare industries. Topics on this year's agenda include supply chain innovation & technology, data management, AI & machine learning, inventory accuracy, and eCommerce.
The concept for The Startup Lab, a new feature at the GS1 Connect Conference, is to identify startup organizations who currently pursue disruptive technology innovations that could be of interest for GS1 members, solution providers, and partners. Eligibility requires a product in market prior to June 2019, which leverages emerging technologies to either improve inefficient business processes, create a transformational new product or service, or scale/solve an intractable business challenge in one of the following seven categories:
Computer Vision, Emerging Data Carriers, and Sensors
Conversational Commerce
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR)
Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
Digital Disruption/Digital Identity
The Internet of Everything
The eight finalists, each of whom went through an extensive selection process, will present their ideas and proofs of concept during The Pitch Competition on Wednesday, June 19th at 11:30 AM.
Mike Demko, CEO of Locai, will be showcasing their proprietary Meal Planning solution, which makes recipe recommendations based on numerous data sources to give customers personalized one-click convenience in shopping a grocer’s digital aisles. The algorithm also takes into account pricing, serving sizes, and product quantities to minimize food waste.
Demko says, “Our solution aims to provide consumers a more relevant, appealing and efficient way to shop for food online. By using AI to parse recipes into ingredients and quantities, and by understanding a customer's specific preferences and purchase history, our solution presents customers a more engaging and inspirational shopping journey through personalized recipe recommendations that are shoppable with one-click.”
Locai will have a booth in the StartUp Lab on the Exhibit Floor during the conference, along with the other Pitch Competition contestants. Come out and cheer them on as they present the latest in innovation and technology, or meet them on the floor for 1-1 conversation.
